$15.00 per member to be paid by the member before each meeting. Cash Bar.

Gentlemen:
In an effort to cut our costs down, we will be holding the meetings in more economical locations such as Firehouses and Halls and having pizza, sandwiches and the like.
Please help us find similar locations in your town. I’m sure we will still have some meetings out, but members will have to cover some of the costs.
This is a critical year for our organization and I am asking for maximum involvement and participation. For example, please find us guest speakers to make the meetings more interesting and informative; In addition, we will need to appointment a new picnic committee and start planning no later than the January meeting.

2009 Annual Plumbers Picnic at Plattdeutche Park a Success!
Saturday July 25th at Plattduetche Park, the annual Fundraiser Picnic was held for an enthusiastic crowd.
Families were encouraged to bring all the kids for old fashioned games & activities. Since ticket prices were reduced this year for kids and kids under enjoyed the picnic and games for free, attendance was higher than ever.
The picnic will started 10:30 AM with a continental breakfast. The kids got started on the many exciting activities and events planned for them such as: pony rides, inflatable jumping castle, face painting, egg toss and a petting zoo.
Besides the kids, the adults enjoyed tasty picnic fare all day, including fresh clams, German beer, live music and some other great surprises.

General membership meeting was held on Monday, Feb. 2nd, 2009 at Marcello's Restaurant on Franklin Avenue in Valley Stream.
John Krull of Board of Plumbing Examiners of Nassau County Passes Away
John Krull, the Malverne inspector and Hempstead Plumbing Board member passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 24th, 2009.
He was a huge prescence in Nassau County Plumbing Industry, well-respected for holding and keeping standards high.
He was waked Wednesday, January 27th, at Flinch & Bruns Funeral home in Lynbrook and family, friends and colleagues paid their respects in numbers that reflect the love and respect John earned in his life and career.
God speed John. You will be missed.

The January 2009 Meeting of the Joint Board of Plumbing Examiners of Nassau County was held Monday, January 5th, 2009
at Jameson's Restaurant in Floral Park. *photos below*
Matt Sweeney presided during active discussions on current topics and resolutions related to ways the Board of Examiners can effectively achieve the overall goal of public safety within the plumbing industry of Nassau County and the growth of membership. - Guests from local village and town government were introduced and thanked for their participation, including visitor attorney John O'Grady, associated with the Nassau County Dept. of Health.
- Members reported violators of town, county and state requirements, and approved action plans for securing the public safety, citing town, county and state requirements. Action plans were discussed for detecting and stopping unsafe plumbing work.
- Charity & benefit events were discussed and planning continued - Saturday was considered favorable for the event date of the Summer Fundraiser Picnic.
Agenda and Member-initiated Topics included: - Licensing reciprocity between towns and villages - pros & cons
- Streamlining licensing procedure while increasing scrutiny of reciprocal licenses
- Model for ID and Licensing: Valley Stream Photo ID system
- Plumbing Inspectors vs. Code Enforcers - cautions against growing lack of expertise
- Converting Villages to High Standard County-wide License to maintain quality
- Credibility factors and tools for the Board, including professional stationery
- "Going by The Book" referencing the Oyster Bay plastic pipe concerns & liability
- Imminent adoption of Residential Fire Sprinklers into plumbing code
- Upcoming seminar on track pipe and electrical grounding
- Absence of licensed plumbers on jobs - "Covering"
- Non-licensed plumbers working and fines too low to deter violations
- Membership: Increasing enrollment and numbers - town funding of dues
- Summer Picnic details for improvement - ticket lines, catering, location.

The Annual Plumbers Picnic was a tremendous success last summer at Theodore Roosevelt Park in Oyster Bay, NY. Thanks to all of you who participated and came out to enjoy the Picnic! Gorgeous weather, overflowing freshly grilled and barbequed chicken, burgers and hot dogs, salads, corn on the cob & clams on the half shell - all the rest. No one went away hungry (or thirsty!)
What a great time for the gentlemen of the trade and their families who attended. Special thanks to the volunteers, those who donated their time and resources for the planning and raffles, ...and to those who worked and went before us to get us where we are today.
